A garden made of tiles
This Iznik tile panel makes a wall feel like a flowering surface. The Met draws attention to its distinctive raised red, made using iron-rich clay beneath the glaze. Look at how the decoration travels across the tiled surface: separate pieces become a continuous picture.
- Why this number?
- Four by four: a loose nod to the grid behind tiled decoration, not a count of this panel.
